01 Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using Editryk (the "Service") at editryk.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you don't agree with any part of these Terms, please don't use the Service.
These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use Editryk. They form a binding agreement between you and the operator of Editryk ("we", "us", or "our").
02 Description of the service
Editryk provides a suite of free, browser-based tools for working with images and PDF files β including (but not limited to) compression, resizing, conversion, cropping, watermarking, background removal, merging, splitting, encryption, and electronic signature stamping. Every tool runs entirely in your browser via JavaScript and WebAssembly. Your files are not uploaded to or stored on any Editryk-controlled server.
The Service is offered as-is, free of charge, with no requirement to register, sign up, or pay. We reserve the right to add, remove, or modify any tool at any time without notice.
03 Your files & content
You retain all rights to the files, images, PDFs, and other content you process through Editryk. We do not claim any ownership, license, or interest in your content. Because all processing happens in your browser, we never receive or have access to your files in the first place.
You are solely responsible for the content you process. You represent and warrant that:
- You own or have appropriate rights to the files you process
- Your use of the Service does not infringe anyone else's intellectual property, privacy, publicity, or other rights
- The content you process does not violate any law applicable to you in your jurisdiction
04 Acceptable use
You agree to use Editryk only for lawful purposes. You must not, and must not attempt to, use the Service to:
- Process content that is illegal in your jurisdiction (e.g., child sexual abuse material, content created or shared without consent of the people depicted, materials infringing third-party intellectual property)
- Remove protection from PDF documents you do not own or have explicit permission to modify, including circumventing copyright protection (e.g., on commercial ebooks or licensed materials)
- Forge electronic signatures or stamp another person's signature image onto a document without their explicit authorization
- Process material with the intent to defraud, deceive, or commit identity theft
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service for the purpose of harming users or the Service itself (security research and personal curiosity are explicitly permitted)
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, any analytics endpoints, or any third-party CDN it relies on
- Use automated means (scrapers, bots, headless browsers running at scale) to abuse the Service in a way that degrades it for other users
Because Editryk runs in your browser and never sees your files, the practical enforcement of these conditions falls to you, your conscience, and the laws applicable to you. We rely on your good-faith commitment to use the Service responsibly.
05 Editryk's intellectual property
Editryk is a proprietary service. The Editryk name, brand, logo, site design, copy, and the underlying source code are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws. All rights are reserved. You may use the Service to process your own files, link to Editryk pages, share screenshots, and recommend the Service to others. You may not:
- Copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of the Editryk source code, design, or copy
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service to replicate or compete with it
- Republish substantial portions of the site copy or design as your own
- Use the Editryk name or logo to imply endorsement of an unrelated product or service
- Strip Editryk's branding and resell the Service as your own, including by rehosting our compiled assets under a different name
Editryk's client-side bundle incorporates several third-party open-source libraries, used under their respective licenses. Those libraries remain governed by their own license terms; the rest of the Editryk codebase is closed-source and is not licensed for reuse.
06 Disclaimer of warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranty of any kind, either express or implied, including without limitation any warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, reliability, or freedom from defects. We do not warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- Any specific tool will work for your particular file or use case
- Compression, conversion, or other operations will produce a result of any specific quality, file size, or fidelity
- Encryption applied via the Protect PDF tool will resist all attacks (the strength depends on your password and on the AES-256 standard, which is industry-best but not absolute)
- An electronic signature stamped via the Sign PDF tool will be legally binding in your jurisdiction or for your specific use (consult a lawyer for high-value or regulated documents)
You use the Service at your own risk. Always keep backup copies of important files before processing them.
07 Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, in no event shall Editryk, its operators, or its licensors be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages β including without limitation loss of data, loss of revenue, loss of profits, or business interruption β arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Because Editryk is provided free of charge and never receives or stores your files, our aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to USD $0. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; if those laws apply to you, some of the above limitations may not apply.
08 Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Editryk, its operators, and its licensors from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: (a) your use of the Service in violation of these Terms; (b) your violation of any law or the rights of any third party; or (c) any content you process through the Service.
09 Modifications to the service
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any feature or part of it) at any time, with or without notice. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the Service.
Because Editryk runs in your browser, any version you have already loaded into your browser will continue to function until you reload the page. We cannot retroactively remove tool functionality from a page you have already opened.
10 Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time β simply close the browser tab. We may, at our sole discretion, restrict access to the Service (in whole or in part) at any time, for any reason, with or without notice. Because we do not require accounts and do not track individual users, "termination" in the conventional sense does not really apply β but we reserve the right to block IP addresses or rate-limit traffic that we determine is abusive.
11 Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, applicable laws, or our practices. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, for material changes, display a banner on the site for at least 30 days. Your continued use of the Service after a change becomes effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12 Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction where Editryk's operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. You agree that any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the courts of competent jurisdiction in that location, except where applicable consumer-protection law guarantees you the right to bring suit in your local courts.
Nothing in these Terms shall affect any non-waivable statutory rights you have as a consumer.
