Split PDF

Separate a PDF by page ranges, every N pages, or one file per page. No upload, no signup, no file size limit.

How to split a PDF

Three clicks from a bound document to a clean set of segmented files.

  1. 1

    Drop your PDF

Drag and drop a PDF into the dropzone. The tool reads the page count locally — no upload, no preview generation on a server.

  2. 2

    Choose how to split

Pick custom page ranges (e.g. 1-3, 5, 8-10), split every N pages, or output one file per page. Each output is named automatically.

  3. 3

    Split and download

Hit Split. Each output file generates locally. Download single files individually, or grab the whole set as a single ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Everything worth knowing before you split your first PDF.

How do I split a PDF into multiple files?

Drop your PDF in, type the page ranges you want (or pick "split every N pages" or "one file per page"), then click Split. Each segment becomes its own PDF in seconds.

Can I split by page ranges?

Yes. Type ranges like "1-3, 5, 8-10" and the tool produces one file per range. The original page order is preserved inside each output file.

Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?

No. Splitting happens entirely in your browser. Your documents never leave your device — safe for legal contracts, financial statements, medical records, and other sensitive content.

Is there a file size or page count limit?

No fixed cap. PDFs of 1000+ pages and several hundred MB split successfully on most modern devices. The practical ceiling is your browser's available memory.

Will the split files have the same quality as the original?

Yes — splitting copies pages byte-for-byte from the source. Image quality, fonts, hyperlinks, and form fields inside the kept pages are preserved exactly.

Can I split a password-protected PDF?

Unlock it first using the Unlock PDF tool (you must know the password), then split the unlocked copy.

What's the output filename?

Each split is named after the original with a page-range suffix — for example, contract_1-5.pdf, contract_6-10.pdf. Rename freely after download.

Do bookmarks and digital signatures survive the split?

Bookmarks pointing to pages inside a split segment are preserved. Bookmarks pointing to removed pages are dropped. Digital signatures become visually intact but cryptographically invalid (the file bytes change).

Can I split many PDFs in one batch?

The tool focuses on splitting one PDF at a time — each split typically needs its own range decisions. For repeating splits across many files, drop them in one at a time and reuse the same range pattern.
