How do I add a CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT watermark to a PDF?

Will the watermark be removable?
Watermarks become part of the page's content stream — there's no separate removable layer. They can theoretically be edited out in Acrobat Pro with significant effort, but for casual deterrence they're plenty.

Yes. Toggle "behind content" so the watermark appears under text and images rather than on top. Useful for subtle branding that doesn't interfere with reading.
Can I watermark a password-protected PDF?
Unlock it first using the Unlock PDF tool (you must know the password), then watermark the unlocked copy.
What's the right opacity for a watermark?
