Frequently asked questions
Everything worth knowing before you merge your first PDFs.
How do I merge multiple PDFs into one?
Drop them into the tool, drag them into the order you want, then click Merge. The combined PDF downloads in seconds. There's no signup, no per-file size cap, and no upload — everything happens in your browser.
Are my PDFs uploaded to a server?
No. The entire merge runs locally inside your browser. Your documents never leave your device, which makes it safe for contracts, legal filings, financial statements, and confidential reports.
Is there a limit on how many PDFs I can merge?
No hard limit. The practical ceiling is your device's available memory. Most modern laptops merge 50+ PDFs without issue. If a merge fails, try in smaller batches and chain the results.
Will the merged PDF preserve bookmarks and digital signatures?
Bookmarks from the first file are preserved. Digital signatures on input PDFs become visually intact in the output but are no longer cryptographically valid (because the document bytes change). To preserve signature validity, append-merge by re-signing the combined document afterward.
Can I merge password-protected PDFs?
You'll need to unlock them first. Use the Unlock PDF tool to remove the password (you must know it), then merge the unlocked copies.
Does the merge add a watermark?
No. Editryk never adds watermarks, banners, or branding to your output. The merged PDF is byte-clean.
Will the merged PDF be smaller or larger than the originals?
Roughly the sum of input sizes. If you want a smaller merged file, run it through the Compress PDF tool afterward — typically 30–60% reduction with no visible quality loss.
Can I merge PDFs from different sources (scans, exports, signed forms)?
Yes. The tool handles mixed sources — printed scans, application exports, signed forms, and rendered web pages all merge into a single document with consistent page numbering.
What's the maximum PDF file size?
There's no fixed cap. The dropzone accepts files of any size; the practical limit is your browser's RAM. PDFs up to 200 MB are routine; 1 GB+ documents may slow processing.
